IAM GETTING A REM 870 IN TWO WEEKS FOR TURKEY WHAT IS THE BEST CHOKE AND 3IN SHELLS WORK BEST FOR IT BECAUSE I WONT HAVE MUCH TIME TO TUNE IT UP. WANT TO SPEND ABOUT $60 BUCKS ON CHOKE ,SHELLS. THANKS BRIAN

Brian - you don't say what you plan on hunting with it I have 2 870's - one is used for small game, dove and waterfowl; the other is used for turkey hunting only. to give you an idea, what works for me is the following: Turkey - Choke = HS Undertaker Turkey SuperFull, Ammo = Federal Premium #5 Waterfowl - Choke = Remchoke(steel or lead) Modified or Full(Modified for ducks and Full for Geese), Ammo = Remington Nitro Steel(BBB for geese, BB and #4 for ducks) Small game and doves - Choke = Remchoke Improved cylinder, Ammo = Remington gameload in #71/2 for dove, Remington Long range Express in #6 for small game(rabbit, pheasant and grouse) good luck

brian,i have a 1187 3 inch basicly the same gun,i shoot the factory rem full choke outa mine with great success..sometimes all these fancy tubes are to tight and at 10-15 yrs they dont open up at all much,missed one couple years ago with all the fancy red dot scopes and supper full tubes went back to bead sights and factory tubes and its been on for me ever since..

try federal premium flitecontrol in 6 or 5 shot with truglo or h.s. chokes. 3 inch 3.5 inch. this works great out of my 870 super mag. also try remington factory super full choke
