Any you folks wanting to hunt 42 and need a place to park a rig (camper) let me know.. Even though I had to give up hunting I still like to BS about it.. Got lots of room to park rigs. Heck even got a good road and the grass is cut. Oh! and the price is right! ;D MM

I live about 4mile from 271 and about 4mile from 42 parking lot.......... Just a short shot either way you go..... Figure since the PGC doesn't allow camping I could offer a place to others....... Had a good road put in with gas well and room for 30 or so if needed. MM

42 is off 271 on Waterford Mt... or you can get to it from the New Florence side... New florence side has the shoting range etc.. thats the side you want to hunt and that is closest to me...... Seems the better side for kills and better axcess when you find out how to get in.... I'm not sure if 42 runs over into 30 and *Mellon's* or not I do know it is large and a lot of hunters get lost every year. Parking and advise is here if need.. Some back roads into 42.... Make it a lot easier. MM

A good bit of the land between SGL 42 at the rifle range and Rt 30 in towards Laughlington is owned by the Laughlington Sportsmen. "POSTED"
However if you continue up the summit on Rt 30 there is an access road on the left to get you back in there. Nice area for Deer and Bear on the summit Rt 30 side of SGL 42. Warning if you take the access road at the summit you will need 4X4 especially with rain or snow.

Right now we have a lot of those type sportsman clubs showing up around here..... Lease farm ground and post it. Kinda of a sore spot with me... Post next to me and then "think they sould hunt mine". First thing these clubs should do is "Make sure they know where the property lines are"... It seems they have problems with that,, little bit like timber maggots, if it looks better on the other side of the line thats alright........Some folks never learned the meaning of "Sportsman".... ;D MM

I think the Laughlington Sportsman Club has been around there for as long as I can remember. I am not sure about membership but can remember Dad telling me it was expensive and there was quite a waiting list.
I shot a 6 point up there many years ago in my teens. It ran across the field an onto the posted property. I was not to far from the front parking lot (in those days you could not access the parking area near the range other than by foot) and went to the truck. There was a PGC Officer there and explained my successful harvest. He made one call and a member come to the parking lot. the three of us went back to where I shot from and followed the blood trail. That buck went about 75 yards onto their property. They let me retrieve it and went on my way. The member of the club accompanied us and I asked how they tell who is a member or who is not. At that time they had metallic buttons made with a number and the year.
Seemed like a pretty nice guy. I can tell you that they are pretty strict on trespassers and we had a brief conversation about their problems with such.

MM... I was up your way on Saturday 12/1 and hunted SGL 42. I went in the top near the summit and back along ridge road. Only hear one snort and seen a decent bear.
One thing I did notice is that the PGC has one or two areas up there "High Fenced" I would supose this is to test regeneration of the forest.
