I want to get a rooster pheasant or grouse mount done, I'd like it in flight, to put on the wall, with pointing pics of my dogs around it. How do you recommend I care for the bird until I get it to a taxidermist?? What kind of price does that usually run? (I have thought about just buying a nice rooster to get mounted, but a grouse shot over the dogs would have more meaning to me.) Thanks! Ann

you would best served to freeze the bird in plastic bags ,what i do is if i have one that i am using in competition i will slide an old stocking over it to keep feathers in place. i use heavy freezer bags for all my specimens.if you are going to have a pheasant done make sure you put the tail in something like an old paper towel tube to keep from getting damaged.the mount cost would vary on what kind of taxidermist you choose, i would charge somewhere in a ballpark price 200-250 don't have my prices with me right now. whatever you do do not look for the cheapest price it will come back and haunt you down the road you get what you pay for. any questions give me a call (724)290-9095

Thanks! :DJust wanted an average so I know what to expect, figured about that for price. Also wanted to make sure I take proper care and precautions with the bird! Guess this'll be the year I can do it since Acme Hunter is going to shoot a grouse for me.......
