saxony trails taxidermy. he's done all our deer but now i'm in the market for a new one . the old guy's health is bad and his eye sight is going. it's a shame to he's 200 yards form the house.

I use Rougeaux's Taxidermy here in Indiana.
He has done all of my mountings so far, he does excellent work at a resonable price.

Ness does some nice work when it's something he likes to do, but he won't get anymore business from me, here's why, I won a $150 gift certificate I'm guessing he donated to NWTF, Kudos to him if he did donate it, I decided to use it to have a fox mounted that winter. Looking back it's obivious now that I should have been able to tell from the get-go his heart wasn't into it, but I didn't think much of it that day. 17 months later I got an mediocre mount of a fox back with the ugliest base I have ever saw. While chatting with him when picking up my mount he said that foxes are his least favorite animal to do, I wish he would have told me that when I took it in, because I would have taken it elsewhere, couple that with the fact the most of the price of the mount was a donation and you end up with a lousy mount of what was once a beautiful animal. Now Steve Prowell gets all of my business, he does a fantastic job and is a real good guy. Here's some of the work Steve has done for me. He's working on a snow goose, a ruddy duck and a cackler for me right now.

Prowell is unbeatable on waterfowl and other birds-nobody's better-but for big game,I take them elsewhere. He did an 8pt for me that wasn't too impressive.(to be fair, that was 15yrs ago-maybe he got better on mammals since then)

I can only attest to the work that Ness Taxidermy has done for me & my Dad. Between the 2 of us Ness mounted: a Canadian Timber Wolf (head/rug), Bama Bobcat (full), yote(head/rug), 5 bear (shoulder mounts) and at least a half doz trophy whitetails. All mounts are second to none with outstanding workmanship. In addition, the time to mount was within time frame promised on all. PA Bird Man, sorry to hear of your unhappiness with Ness Taxidermy. You are the first complaint that I have ever heard in my over 40 years of dealing with them. A Couple Of The Mounts Ness Did for Me:

PA Bird Man, sorry to hear of your unhappiness with Ness Taxidermy. You are the first complaint that I have ever heard in my over 40 years of dealing with them. Loggy, like I said, I think most of Ness's work is very good, I also know several people that still use him and don't have any problems. I'm sure my situation came from all of the contributing factors, but it rubbed me the wrong way. I've been real happy with all of Prowell's work and will continue to use him.
