Yeah I would love to book with Shockey hunt BUT have yet to justify 6K+ for a Black Bear. There are other outfitters on the island also. I am sure I will end up at Shockey's but will take a few years.(Need to do some overtime shifts at work Ha-Ha) Encore28

While they do have lots of bears and very large ones on Vancouver Island, it is overpriced IMO. You can get a good black bear hunt with color phase bears fairly common in other areas of British Columbia for about half the price of a good Vancouver Island hunt. Two outfitters come to mind, and I have hunted with both of them. Granby Guides and Outfitters near Grand Forks, BC is exceptional. I saw over thirty bears in six days and took a fairly nice black (19 7/16 skull). The other outfitter is Tukii Lodge, near Smithers, BC. On that trip, I saw 41 black bears and 21 grizzly in nine days of hunting. Both of these are fair chase hunts, no baiting (illegal in BC). Tukii Lodge has mostly all black color phase bears. Granby has about 1/3 color phase if that is important.

Muttley Thanks for the info--------I hunted bears once in BC and it was a good hunt. I am not one to sit on bait so a spot and stalk hunt is my only option. Thanks again Encore28
