anyone try the new air rests they have, was thinking of buying one but haven't yet. Then someone told me you have to have a solid draw back. wondering what people thought of them. Maybe the air rest apposed to the drop away rests. i use a wisker biscuit now and it's aways been great, just wondering.

I was given one to try and personally I found I couldn't stand the thing. From my testing I felt it took a tremendous amount of time for the arrow to stabilize and any amount of movement on the part of the shooter again caused the arrow to waver and the entire process to start over again, something I can't have when hunting.
As a hunter I practice as much as possible trying to duplicate ANY possible hunting situation. One scenario I practice is drawing back, getting ready to release and envisioning the Deer beginning to move and having to follow it for either a walking shot or until it stops again. With the Air Rest I found that the settling period took extremely long and if your moving at all it was very unreliable and inaccurate.
Just my .02 since you asked.

Good post Jeff. I had never used one to see those "settling effects", but glad you did. I saw a lot of potential problems with the rest just by looking at it. Seems like verybody is trying to come up with some new gimmick in archery. And there are plenty of gullible soles to sell to.

Seems like verybody is trying to come up with some new gimmick in archery. And there are plenty of gullible soles to sell to. Well put. As Archery has evolved and become more popular it has become a feast for the Manufacturers and retails sales with all of the gimmicks out there. Someone unveils the latest & greatest of something new that promises to make one a better Archer and as it sells every other manufacturer is working diligently on their version of the same thing. Occasionally I uncover such gimmicks that I once purchased and stuck away somewhere and think..."what in the world did I waste my money on this thing for".... While there have been and will continue to be some great ideas and improvements common sense still needs to prevail and typically the "KISS" method rises as the best method..
