My wife bought me a 22-250 Rem. (New England Firearms) for Christmas. It has a 6-24 x 50 scope, and a bull barrel I want to use it for groundhogs, and possibly coyotes. What kind of range can I expect to reach with this weapon? Also, what loads woud you recommend?

It all depends on the bullet choice.. I've been shooting the 22/250 for 30+ years in hunting and in competition. You'd have a hard time finding a better round for all varmint hunting in general and it's also one of the easiest to make shoot..the one powder that always seems to stand out is IMR 4064, I personally find the Hornady V-Max moly 50 grain, the ultimate combo bullet..it'll tack drive like a hpbt but has the pointed front to reach out and touch something..grounds to 350 with ease and coyotes to 300 with no problem...after 350 the energy drops off in a hurry and killing them on the spot gets a little tougher..you can hit them out to 500+ but finding them is questionable at best..great round, awesome accuracy and one of my all time favorites..

With my Ruger M77 MKII I have found the 55 grain bullet to perform best. My ruger has a 1-14 twist which lends itself to handle the mid-weight bullet which is the 55 grain.
My pet load for this round is 34.0 grains of IMR3031 under a Sierra 55 grain SPT Varmiter bullet.
I have it set for +1.18 inches at 100 yds which gives me the ability to hold on a woodchucks chin out to 255 yds and put one in his vitals without worrying about holdover. Hold on his forehead and I good out 300 yds.
Longest shot taken with this load was a 400 yd chest shot on a yote. Dropped in its tracks when hit from this distance with minimal pelt damage - one hole in, no hole out
I also have my bullets sets .020 from the lands, measured with a stoney point COL gauge. This has brought my loads from 1/2 inch groups to 1/16 groups at 100 yds
good luck with your new varmit rifle, let me know if you need any help with this round, I've been loading this round for 11 years now.

great hog gun, and for those that don't have a 22-250 i believe accelerator bullets come in .270, 30-30, and 30.06 and i've found them to be an amazing load for groundhogs

Sure appreciate all your advice. I am looking forward to reaching the hogs again. The .17 just pushed them out of range, but I couldn't get a quick kill past 175 yards. They just sorta crawled away. I will probably start out with a factory load , as I have not reloaded before, and I don't know this weapon, butI like the Idea of customizing the load to the need...and I'm starting to see the economy of reloading since I love to shoot.
