Maybe one of the Butler locals can answer this for me. I was out at the range last week, could see where they have been working around the backstop. Read here where they have been removing lead from some of the ranges. I called Franklin to see if the range was open(my first mistake). Guy there said he did not think it was going to be a public range any longer because there is a building on it. I told him the public has used it for 20 years that I know of and there has been a building on it for 20 years(my second mistake). He then got pretty smart about it and said again he did not think it was a public range. I told him there is a sign there that has the range rules on it and that if it is no longer open to the public it should have a sign saying so(my third mistake). He advised me that I probably should not take a chance. Does anyone know if we can still use the range? I told him I would try and find the local officer and ask him(my fourth mistake). He said that I could do what I want and hanged up.

The range at SGL245 outside of Claysville is somewhat open. A few months ago somebody shot the backstop to pieces so the GC came in and dropped off a couple of large shooting cubes. Those lasted all of 3 weeks before some jerk shot them up at close range with a shotgun. So now the GC dumped a few piles of dirt back there and the usual skids, pieces of plywood, ladders, etc to hold targets have been placed there. Basically it looks like h*ll. What I wouldn't give to catch the jerks that always screw up the range down here.
