anyone ever hunt in thequebec wild area?is that sgl 42?any good for bear or deer?

Buck... this is not SGL 42.... This is DCNR property which is actually an extension of Forbes State Forest. We have done pretty well there with the exception of the last 2 years the deer population is way down. as for Bear still a good population there occasionally we see the PGC release trapped bear there. Nice country but a ton of ground to cover if your willing I could show you some of it sometime.
SGL 42 is on Chestnut Ridge runs from route 30 and goes north. Again a large tract of land and I have done well there in the past too.

Yes I have but only the portion nearest to Laurel Caverns again some beautiful area. and Gets pretty steep back in there.

I hunted back there when I was a kid. I think I'll check it out for next season.

Not big deer population but they are there. I do not know the pressure it receives on the opener either but if it is like anywhere else up there 100's of hunters on Monday and 10 on Tuesday.

Only hunted small game up there. Very hilly terrain. For big game I'd suggest a good scout to plan how to drag it out and bring a buddy.
On a side note I have to say this is one of my favorite places for camping. A light pack and only the basics makes for a nice weekend and the sheer beauty of the place soothes the soul.
