from what i know about it people basically go out & hide random stuff in the middle of nowhere or just at really random places... then they mark the coordinates on their gps & they take the coordinates & put them on the geocaching website for others to go & try to find whatever it was they hid... i also think that when someone else finds it they take that item & replace it with something else but dont quote me on any of that b/c i dont know for sure ;D

Actually what they do is usually hide a container, mostly an ammo box. In they place small items. When you find a cache, there is a small notebook and pen. You write in your name and when you found it. You are welcome to take an item and you replace it with one of your own. They also have a thing called a travel bug. If you find one, you take it and put it in another cache. Hopefully it will find it's way back to the original cache. We found one from England. Once you get into geo-caching, you'll find many intrersting new areas, possibly some new hunting grounds. This picture should help.

Geocaching is using billion dollar satellites to find tupperware hidden in the woods. ;D.

it is a great way to introduce your little ones to the outdoors. my wife an i hopmeschool our three daughters and caching always counts as a school day cuz we find ways to make it educational.we take photos of things we have never seen b4 and the try to identify them once we get home. but it is just a great way to get outdoors and spend time with the family
