Assisted Suicide> Something we don't like to talk about. What are your thoughts on a doctor helping someone to die if that person has *No hope* of maintaining a decent life...... If you were in a coma or a veggie state what would your thought be on help to die? MM

MM If medically determined no hope whatsoever...pull the switch IMO such as disconnecting feeding tubes etc. Had to do several times for close family. Tuff decision but it was their wishes. As far as drug induced death or other methods of killing...I do not support.

Please , please consider a living will !! dont make your family make this decision for you , its not fair to them. talk to your primary care physician and have your wishes in writing, For me personally , when my quality of life is gone , with no chance of recovery i do not want a machine to keep my body alive just to prolong a life that is no more.

If in a vegetative state, no hope? I have no problems about removing from life support.I also 100% support someones right to choose assisted suicide over a long and/or painful death. Especially in the cases of ones like Michael J Fox....to eventually totally loose all body motor functions, until you can't eat or breathe on your own and stilll remain completely mentally intact.....what a horrible torture, IMO(didn't say it was his mind you). If one chooses to fight, so be it, if not, so be it also, but it's your life. Terminal cancer patients should have the right to do what they wish with their life also. I'll probably catch heck for this statement, but sometimes I think we're kinder to our dogs by ending their suffering when they fall ill, and not allowing a person the right to CHOOSE what to do with their life when they fall ill with a terminal disease, sorry if that offends anyone, JMHO.

Doesn't offend me one bit... If I was in a state that I couldn't take care of myself and extreme pain, or a veggie state of life I hope someone would *step in* if that is all possible..... What's the difference in take a feeding tube out and letting you die a slow death as to giving you a shot in a tube and ending it with some kind of dignity? I for myself think it should be made legal 2-3 doctors and 2 family member or with a living will.. MM

SORRY GUY'S. YOU TALK ABOUT A LIVING WILL, I HAVE HAD 2 FAMILY CASES WHERE A LIVING WILL WAS OVER TURNED BY THE DOCTOR'S BECAUSE THERE WAS A GLIMMER OF HOPE..... BY THW WAY IT COST OUR FAMILY THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS AND A LOT OF SUFFERING BEFORE THEY PASSED AWAY. I HAVE ENOUGH PAIN MED'S THAT IF I CHOOSE TO END LIFE BECAUSE OF ALL MY MEDICAL PROBLEM'S I WILL TAKE CARE OF IT MYSELF..... I DON'T THINK IT SHOULD BE CALLED SUICIDE BUT MEDICALLY NECESSARY.......EVERYONE IN MY FAMILY KNOWS AND HAVE DECIDED THAT IT IS MY CHOICE....ALLOWING A PERSON TO HAVE CONTROL OF THEIR OWN QUALITY OF LIFE IS VERY IMPORTANT NOT ONLY FOR THEMSELVES BUT FOR FAMILY MEMBER'S TOO.... IF SOMEONE APPROACHED ME AND HAD SEVERE MEDICAL PROBLEMS AND KNOWS THEY ARE TERMINAL WOULD I HELP THEM,,,,,,PROBABLY.....I AM NOT CUREL OR MEAN OR A BAD PERSON I JUST FEEL THAT EVERY INDIVIDUAL HAS A REGHT TO MAKE THEIR OWN DECISION ON THEIR QUALITY OF LIFE.......
