No fancy brands here, just a couple pair of good thick wool socks & in very cold weather, you sure can't beat using Toasty Toes!

cotton socks are the worst for your feet in cold weather no matter how many grams of insulation your boot is. wool socks, k mart has neoprene socks for 8.99 tried those out this year, great for sitting, not for walking and sitting though.

I have never had much luck with cotton either. in fact, i dont wear cotton t's under my thermax union suit for that reason.

the only reason i wear cotton socks is that if i wear any other kind my feet are to hot even when setting, before i got my rockys i used regular boots and 20 pairs of socks ;D i tried those neoprene jobs once in my regular boots and by the time i got to my spot 1/2 mile in the mountain' my feet were on fire, once i set there 30 minutes they felt like a lil blocks of ice

The best combo I have found is a Cabelas Ultimax liner sock and their Deluxe Cold Weather socks. They are 88% Merino wool, and 16 " high. I have tried so many ways to keep my feet warm and this is the best I have tried.
