I was thinking about getting some rage broadheads and saw you can get them with either 2 or 3 blades I was just wondering what would better to get the 2 blades have a bigger cut but seems to me it would only let a slit in the deer where the 3 blade would make more of a hole any input would be great

3 blades would be better then 2 anyday, a bigger hole just means...a better blood trail & easier tracking

This is the entrance hole from a 125gr 2-bl Zwickey broadhead.I've been using 2 blade heads for most of my 25yrs bowhunting and never lost a deer or never had trouble following a blood trail. All things being equal, they penetrate better and they do leave a bigger hole than what you'd think.

My preference is for a single blade broadhead that has a smaller bleeder blade attached.
The Steelforce Sabortooth is one such blade, and from personal experience you cant go wrong with this broadhead.
good luck

i shoot nap spitfires now the only reason i was think of switching to the rage is because they say you can have deflection problems with angled shots with regular expandables where with the rage they say that wont happen im sorta new to archery hunting so i wasnt sure how much this would really matter

all things equal the fastest bows need mechanicals. next three or four next down two or two with bleeder blade. just a thought. no hard set fast rule. ;D

all things equal the fastest bows need mechanicals. Years ago this was true, but thanks to today's more forgiving bows and low profile broadhead designs (Nitrons, Ultimate Steel, Slick Trick, Sonic, Striker, etc.) it is rather easy to achieve excellent broadhead flight from fast shooting bows. Granted it's easier getting mechanicals to fly right, but then again you're not really addressing the problem by slapping a mechanical on an arrow that won't fly right, the bow still needs tuned and putting the mechanical on it is like putting a band aid on a gun shot wound.... sure it's a quick fix, but it's not going to solve the problem, in this case, an untuned bow

I agree.A fast bow doesn't need a mechanical.I've been shooting between 280 and 294 fps for over 10 years and my broadheads always fly right with my fieldpoint. The newer, smaller profile heads do tune easier but I never has a hard time getting any bow to shoot muzzy's or various wasps.I've been shooting 4 bladed slick tricks for the past 5 years.Last fall I killed a 10 point,2 does and a nice mature gobbler with the same. All passthroughs and all dead within sight of my tree.

like i said no hard fast rules. just quoting the so called experts. anything above 280 ft/sec mechanicals are your best bet. but don't use them myself

Apparently, the so called experts have no idea how to tune a bow,

i think CHUCK ADAMS, RANDY ULMER, MYLES KELLER have an idea on how to set a bow up. ONCE AGAIN NO HARD FAST RULES.

I'm an average hunter that doesn't get paid to endorse anything.Every bow I've shot since the mid 90's has shot over 280 fps and every one has been tuned so that my broadheads fly to the exact point of impact as my fieldpoints.
Chuck Adams may be one of the worlds greatest hunters but he also advocates shooting animals in the ass.Sorry to disagree with a professional from time to time but once again,I do.
The only hard fast rule is that with good form, strait arrows and a properly tuned bow, most fixed blades heads can be tuned to shoot excellent at speeds well over 300 fps.
I agree buckslayer. You certainly can't go wrong with a muzzy.
