Talk about a comeback. Ben Roethlisberger signed an eight-year extension Monday with the Pittsburgh Steelers that is worth $102 million and makes him one of the league's top-paid players. "He's a Steeler and he'll always be a Steeler," team chairman Dan Rooney said. ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

No doubt I think they are all over paid! Give some of that money to people and organizations that need it. No instead they give it to these guys that realy don't know what the word work means and then half of them abuse some kind of substance just to make a bigger name for themselves. Don't get me wrong I love sports! However I don't feel anyone needs this kind of money to play a game they love. WOULD YOU?

I agree marshrat I would love the money also, but to be totaly honest would you need that kind of money in reality to do a sport you love? I think it is getting alittle out of hand!

Would you not take it? Player contracts are not like our normal wages. They are an investment. Big Ben will have 8 years to return a profit to the Rooney's of 102 million, or 12.75 million per year. He almost brings that in with jersey sales alone. There are also only 1696 people on a planet of over 5 billion who have what it takes to make it to the NFL. 32, or 1.8 percent, are starting QB's, with even fewer that are at Ben's talent level. Scarcity pays.
