I think 8 years old is a good start with a bb gun .then the 22 and then the 410, 20ga. up to 243 by the age of 11 for the guns. but the hunting can start at the young age of 5 i started to instill it in my boys at the age of 3 to 5

My son was the best rabbit dog I ever had. He kicked up more rabbits when he was 6 than my dog did in 6yrs. He was with me at 8 when I shot my first turkey. To this day our best times are hunting together. He is now 18 and hunts archery with his friends, but the rest of the seasons are our time. We hunted ducks this fall and didn't fire a shot and had the time of our lives. He is 6'2" #235 and still my little boy thanks to hunting.

8 yrs old start small and work your way up. keep recoil to a minium so they don't develope bad shooting habits. try all types of hunting. and learn hunting is not just about killing something
