Got to the stream at 0900. Found rises throughout all the runs. Subtle rises, the type you have to know what your looking at to realize that its a rise... know what I mean? I fished with my father today. A flyfishing hero in my eyes. He has forgotten more about flyfishing and flytying than I could ever learn. I was very special to fish with him today. He's pushing 70 years old and he's just a passionate trout-bum just like his son is now!
A Big Meadows Fly Shop Grey Fox produced a few hits for us both. It also produced a few LDR's. (My Orvis tippet didn't do it's job today). I also got a few hits with a West Coast "trout candy" pattern and found a chunky 12" brown! My father used a Light Cahill that landed 2 'bows around 14".
A #18 dry Adams finished off the day with 2 'bows at 1300. The last hit was a 'bow that I saw shoot straight up from the bottom to the surface-top and really hit that fly! It was a good 14-16" 'bow.
I had no luck with nymphing, wets, or streamers today. Everything was dry fly action on the topwater.
Stopped by Big Meadows Fly Shop and said Hi to Bob and the Major again. I was hoping to pick up a few more Grey Foxes, but alas, he was down to his last one! I didn't want to put out some angler who needed a fly on Pine tonight. So I didn't take the last Grey Fox. However, my father was tickled pink to get some woven body nymphs! He stated, "These are some of the finest woven bodies that I have seen on the East Coast!" A bold statement indeed!

Sounds like a good day. Also that's great fishing with your Dad. I also learned from my Dad. My Dad turned 81 this year. He is slowing down. I have learned so much from him. Not only fishing, hunting, business, you name it. Keep at it.
