started at 9 with my 19 yr old cousin Dave. I had a bad home life and David would bus across town every Friday after work to take me hunting or fishing. I remember anxiously waiting for him every Fri!! I remember going for walks on snowy nights, "raccoon hunting" too, he knew I loved to walk in the woods snowy nights, we weren't really hunting anything LOL!! He taught me to fish and hunt, about bedding and roosting areas, how to track and feeding areas. He taught me to shoot, to have patience and to be ethical and to respect nature. When I got my own place, we still hooked up EVERY season to hunt, turkey, deer and small game. He passed away 3 years ago at 46, I still miss him terribly, but have many great memories of our outings, and especially of a teen-age boy who gave up his weekends for me when I was young........

Zodiak, what a great cousin you had! I on the other hand got started later in life, my own famly never hunted, I was always the black sheep of my family, I loved anything that had to do with me being outside and being around animals, just my luck i met my husband (mrlongbeard) when I was 17, I would tag along with him when he would deer hunt and bird hunt and he would answer any questions I had about the outdoors, when i was around 20 he got me my first rifle a 30/30, and I got my first doe with that, I was estatic, I think he was even more so. we eventually got our first beagle and got in to rabbit hunting, we are on our second beagle now. he also got me into archery and my personal favorite turkey hunting, so I guess he made me what I am today, a hunting fanatic:)
