Anyone have one of these safty belts? Heard alot of good things about them so I went and bought one at lunch today. I got the pro series which is an all mesh vest so it dosen't get hot on those warmer then normal days. Never had a safty belt before but I guess it will just make my hunting more enjoyable not having to worry about falling out of the tree.

Best Safety harness on the market today. Makes it easier to get into the harness, without having to fumble around in the dark trying to figure out which way it goes. I have the one that is reversable to Orange, for those times during archery when I have to wear orange . I just replaced mine this year, as it hade made it to the 5 year from manufacture date. Make sure you check the manufactures date and keep track of when yours hits 5 years from date of manufacture, as they must be removed from service and replaced at that time. good luck and safe hunting

Not to stir the pot here but why would you replace it in 5 yrs time. Say you wear it for 5 yrs all your doing is putting it on and taking it off and hopefully you dont have a fall with it, send it back to be restiched at a nominal fee, but think about it your tree tether gets more wear than the vest as for abrasions.Do they dryrot in 5 yrs time or is this a marketing effort to buy another vest in 5 yrs time.

This is a reuirement that the TMA has made on the manufacture of treestand safety equipment(not just the HSS, but all treestand related safety equipment).
If your HSS is past this 5 year period it is not garanteed to keep you safe in the tree. If you are wearing expired safety equipment and you have a fall from your stand, the manufacture will not honor the warranty on the equipment
Yes the equipment may be still safe to use, but are you willing to take that chance?

Since we're on this subject and I will be teaching the Hunter Ed classes next week I thought I would share a little something in regard to this topic that I always go over with the class of students when we cover tree stand hunting. OK....great to see that everyone is wearing their fall restraint device but hope you never have to use it. Now...God forbid you should have to use this device it solves problem #1....it prevents you from falling to the ground of course. Now...if you are unfortunate enough to find yourself in this situation your next issue is how to get back into the stand....and this is easier said than done. 99% of the time you will be hanging there with your back to the tree with your head about even with or below the stand. I don't know how many of you have ever practiced this but I have at home and for myself being a big guy just getting turned around facing the tree to even begin to try to climb back into the stand can be totally exhausting. While it's always a great idea to carry a cell phone or radio to use to call for help suppose no one answers or help can't get there fast enough......again your on your own. While the HSS system and some other's are designed for safety and comfort I'll tell you from experience that any "comfort" lasts for maybe 60 seconds before panic begins to set in and you NEED to get back into the stand. At every one of my stands, about 2-3 feet below the stand I have either a screw in ( if tree damage isn't an issue) or strap on FOLDING tree step and FOLDING is a key word here. Leave this step folded up against the tree so should you fall it does not stab you. Once your able to get yourself turned around to facing the tree now you can unfold the step and you have something to grab hold of with your hand and to use as a step to help get you back into the stand. None of us are getting any younger and if your like me face it...we're not getting any smaller or in much better shape.. ...so our best child like monkey bar tree climbing days are behind us. Plan ahead for the unexpected and worse case scenario. You and your family will be glad you did..... Thought I'd pass this on before we all take to the tree's in a few weeks. Be prepared and be safe. Good Luck to all.

very good post Jeff, something I never thought of...the thing I do is when I set my strap around the tree I put it high enough to where when I sit down I can feel alittle tention on the tether... I was told by doing this it would keep your shoulders above or close to the bottom of your stand..

Good post Jeff always wondered how I would get back in if I fell out. I have the reversible hunter safety system vest great product and great customer service when they updated to the new seat belt buckles I called them to see if I could buy them for the older style vest they sent me the new vest for FREE. Can it get better than that?

My HSS came with a very nice video about the harness and the howtoos. I don't know if the older ones had them but the new ones have a deer drag that connects to the back bottom of the harness. What I am getting at is they say when you hang from one of these harnesses for an extended period of time you seculation in you legs start to slow down. Well on the video they show the way to utilize the deer drag while haging in the tree you take it out of your harness pocket and reach behind you a clip it to the harness. What this will do is it had a loop in it that you can put your foot in and actually stand in it to release all the pressure from your legs. They also like some of you said they tell ya to keep a screw in step in your pocket so incase of a fall you can screw into the tree to regain footing to get back on stand. I love this HSS!
