I'm excited as this Saturday is the first day of the youth phez hunt, I'll be out again with Buddy, Nathan , Nick & Brian. Anyone else heading out with some young charges? ? (I think I get as if not more excited than the kids for this!! ;D)

Wow, what a day!!!! Met up with everyone about 7 this AM. Started the hunt with Buck & Chase today. Had 4 birds in 19 minutes!! Have to say, I'm absolutely floored by how good these kids shoot, they only missed 2 birds all day & one was quite a long shot.(the other they did get tailfeathers off of) There was one shot made at quite a long distance, I believe Nathan hit that one, dropped it at at least 50yds! We switched dogs around 9 & got 3 more birds(missed 2), including a retrieve on one shot by another group whose dog couldn't find it....within minutes of going up to help, our guys recovered it for them, plus we had a point on another bird - a rooster which we got. By 10:30 they had 7 birds bagged & we decided to go to lunch. All-in-all, a GREAT day, weather was beautiful, saw some great shooting by some very nice young men & up and coming hunters, had some very nice dog work & best off got to share it with friends, doesn't get better than that! I took some pics & will post them as soon as I can download them.(can't on this computer)

I went out this morning to an area in Fayette County that was stocked for the youth hunt. Met some fine young hunters there.

Great job BT!!! I love getting the kids out, more than I like hunting myself. I'm going back out monday with 2 of the kids & hoping to get them a few more opportunities at taking some birds.
