Coming back empty handed We didn't get a deer this evening, but still had a good time. Saw a big flock of turkeys on the way in. On stand I had a grouse feeding within five feet of me. Had two doe at fifteen yards. I made a decision this year to not take a doe.

Hunted "the swamp" this morning. Got setup around 600 am and waited in the dark. Wasn't on stand(hunted from a ground setup) 30 minutes when a medium sized bear pass within 15 feet of me About an hour after shooting light had 2 doe come to within 30 yds of my setup, she spotted me reaching for my bow and hightailed it. At 830 I heard a deer snorting behind me and saw 2 more doe hightailing it for the posted property on the north end of "the swamp", my buddy had pushed them coming to my setup. He had seen 2 doe and a buck bedded down in a corn field 50 yds behind the tree he chose for a stand. Went home at 930, took his truck to the garage to have it looked at , came home and took a nap until 400 PM. Got on stand around 430 PM. Wasn't there 30 minutes when a 4 point came by and worked a scrape 15 yds from my stand(figures I'd see a buck that wasn't legal ), he went out into the field and chased a couple does around for awhile. He later came back out into the field and picked a fight with a larger buck(later found out from another buddy hunting the same field the he too was a 4 point(rather large one at that)). Had several does come into the field, but none came close enough for a shot. All in all it was a great day . Seen a total of 30 deer, 1 bear, and a crap load of squirrels and chipmunks. Will be back at "The Spot" on Monday after work.

Sounds like you both had eventful hunts even though you didn't score. Gotta love it when you are seeing lots of different critters & just being out on such a nice day. Hey BT, I can come & take care of those pesky grouse for you.... ;D
