Bear Ole' Buddy...the advantage is that the constriction takes place after the end of the barrel... if your shooting alot of steel shot or heavy buckshot #4's... the internal chokes have a tendency to swell slightly and you won't be able to screw them back inside the barrel... my son had this happen on his S-2000 last year... using the modified choke and shooting all the BLACK CLOUD that he does and #4 buckshot caused it to swell...we just can't get it back in the barrel anymore.. the patterns overall are not really any better than the standard chokes on paper out to 40 yards to be honest about it but it's alot easier on the barrel with these kinds of loads...if your shooting standard lead shot... I don't see any reason to have an external system, but if you shooting lots and lots of steel, cheap investment.. hope this helps

I read online last year that BLACK CLOUD and Patternmaster chokes don't mix well. Something with the shot cup in the blackcloud gets screwed up with the patternmaster chokes and the patterns are horrible. I don't remember the specifics or the source anymore, since I don't use either.

Thanks frank I appriciate the feedback! Basicaly the only thing I do with a shot gun anylonger is turkey hunt. I didn't know if it would give me a tighter pattern or not. My gun now shots pretty well at 40 yards infact my turkey this year was at 45 and he got laid out. Anyways thanks for the reaply.

No problem slayer.... I've found that after market chokes can make some big differences in performance. Myself and my son and wife use Hastings .655 in our turkey guns.. stunning performance on paper/game compared to the extra full chokes supplied with some factory guns.. With some of the new loads and custom chokes, the patterns are almost too tight... you'd better aim and maybe even use a scope or dot site...
