Late season archery is upon us. Most bows have been in your trunk since the early season. You may want to check your tune. Rest gets bumped and placed out of alignment. Make sure everything is working right prior to taking that important shot. I just checked mine, and thank goodness I did. My other half placed some groceries on top of it and my rest was way out of alignment. So to assure you don't miss that deer of a lifetime. Check your equipment prior to going out late season. Good Luck from the XMan.

Oh sure, blame it on the other 1/2 XMan.... ;D ;D ;D Best of luck to you. Would like to get out myself if the temp's will go up a bit. There's a point where I've found that I have to dress so heavily to keep warm that I can't shoot the bow decently so won't go out if it's that cold. Don't want to risk wounding one.

Ain't that the truth. It's taken me 40 years to part with the money to get these modern clothes that keep me warm during those blistering cold days. Now, I too figure if it's cold enough that I need to wear them then I'll just roll over closer to "the other half" and go back to sleep. I've also grown to the point I can't see losing a couple hours of crucial sleep by getting up in the middle of the night to go freeze in some treestand where I eventually fall asleep anyway.

I hear ya bfisher.....it's that "older but wiser" thing they used to tell us about isn't it... ....ISN'T IT ?.... ....shake your head with me and agree.... ...you better be shaking your head... ;D ;D ;D ;D It's funny how life goes isn't it ? I remember the days when I'd go for a long hike on the downright most miserable & worst winter day just to show old Mother nature how tough and ornery I was. Come back covered in snow, mustache frozen to my beard, cold but I'd look at mother nature and say "in your face girl, you can't beat me". Now on these same kind of days I crank up the wood stove a bit, grab the remote & kick back in the recliner and occasionally look out the window to old Mother nature and say....."see how smarter & wiser I am now"....

That's what happens when rigormortis sets in Robinhood! Ha!! Ha!! I'm not going up into any trees. I might have been a crazy cop, but i'm not stupid. I'm hunting from the ground.

Jeff,
Yes I'm shaking my head or whatever else us old guys do. I think we're pretty much in agreement on this subject. Except that I took the wood stove out many years ago. Cutting and splitting 8 cords of wood for a winter just got to be too much like work, too.
Kevin,
I shot Hemlock yesterday. The first 3D I've been able to shoot in almost two years. Felt pretty good to get back into the swing of things. Didn't score well---257, but better than just hanging out and yakking with the old guys. I still need a lot of work. The back and shoulder muscles aren't cooperating too well. Actually surprised myself by hitting the longer shots better than the short ones. There were only about 70 shooters there, just like our club last week. Down about 100 from past years. Being as it's local shooting I don't think it';s the economy. I just think so many guys are getting burned out. Frank and Matt Mickey weren't even there. Sometimes when I think about this I am a bit amazed that a lot of the younger fellows don't shoot more. It's taken me 35 years to let the embers burn down a bit. This neck, shoulder, and back problem was the worst and it really slowed me down, but I'm just not ready to give it up. Surrender is not quite what I had in mind. Actually, shooting this weekend has given me a bit of an urge to start hitting the gym and build some of my muscles so that I can handle a bow better. Kind of my new years resolution to myself.

Didn't know 3D started yet. Should have called me. Who's shooting this up-coming Sunday? Glad you're not going to throw in the towel. Never known Robinhood to stop shooting arrows. Hadn't heard from you thought you may have moved to the islands somewhere!!
