I was wondering if anyone has ballistics software or perhaps a chart of average trajectory for a 30-06 beyond 500 yards. Please leave out the opinions about shooting farther. I would never try to shoot farther than I knew I could hit vitals. The best sniper in the history of the marine corp used a 30-06 and killed plenty at distances out to 1125 yds.
I can find some data out to 500 with a zero of no more than 250 yds, but that's about it.
Also, does anyone know how far 1 click = 1/4" at 100 actually moves at 200, 300 ....

It doubles each time you move another 100 yards..at 200 it's 1/2 inch, at 300 it's 3/4 at 400 it's an inch per click...scope quality comes into play here as does repeatability.....there are lot's of sites dedicated to long range shooting and ballistics...also, lots of ranges close to you that you can actually shoot your loads and check from your rifle.. www.readerange.org it's near Glendale lake, it's out to 1100 or so...

Thanks, that makes it a bit easier to get started. That range is something I will look into. Just guessing by surrounding towns, I think its about an hour from me. Do you know much about that range? The site lacks a lot of info about the range or I just couldn't find it.

You also have one near Lewistown, The Mifflin Co. Sportsmens club, it's out to 1100 yards or so... here's it's link... www.mifflincosportsmens.com This one might be closer for you..yeah, I shoot at both, especially the mifflin groundhog matches, pure benchrest with hunting rifles out to 500, they have a factory class, I'm the rangemaster at this match,...

What can you tell me about ballistics software such as that made by sierra? I'm very biased when it comes to a 30-06 btw. I harass my buddy about his magnum in the deer woods every chance I get, but he knows its all in fun. Do you ever tutor or mentor people who use regular off the shelf guns? I can not afford a $4k rifle and a $2k scope.
