Anyone have a better time frame for when antlers start dropping in central and north central PA? i would like to try and get into shed hunting, and I would like to find them before the rodents start nibbling them up too badly.

Sometime between Dec & April.
I've seen and heard of them dropping as early as Dec. and I personally saw one a few years ago with both sides in tact in early April so it varies tremendously.

From what I have read ,male deer loose their antlers when testosterone levels decline. So if I understand this theory correctly as long as there are female deer in or going into estrous males will retain their antlers.
I could be wrong I'm just telling what I have read

the best way to do it is just walk the woods at least once a week after the month of december. some bucks drop early and some drop late. behind my house iv seen 4 bucks that have dropped 2 of them had only dropped one side tho. and 3 bucks that havent dropped any yet. look for rubs on trees and any fallen over tree easy to rub while standing. they also use rocks to knock them off too.
