Mcnabb isnt so bad, hes just expected to do too much, and thats been the case for a long time. Id say the coaching is solely responsible for it. Eagles running game isnt very good most years, even though westbrook is a great checkdown. They also have no "go to" recievers. Also wouldnt hurt to bring in a legitimate backup qb to pressure Mcnabb a bit. He's not terrible but his passing is avg at best. Even in College it was his ability to scramble that made things happen and that carried over to his early years in Philly until age and injuries caught up to him, very much like Randal Cunningham was during his best days. His passing is inconsistent and I've never seen a QB who throws so many short passes as receivers feet. Even Aikman commented about this during a game this past season, he's noticed as well. Agree 100% with you on their receivers, backs and coaching. Offense is WAY to pass oriented when they have no receivers skilled at RAC. They need better wide outs and a better back with a more balanced approach. I think they need to use Tony Hunt more in their game plan. Been saying this for years now. Reid is to set in his ways and refuses to change his game plan and play calling. All year long watching them we constantly saw certain situations where the announcers would say what the Eagles needed to do next and the choice was a no brainer yet they break the huddle and do the exact opposite. Multiple 3rd and shorts and you throw 30 yard passes over and over again....c'mon....makes it easy to defend against. Defensively they can be tough but they need a new O coordinator and game plan. Until then they'll only get close, close but not quite.

pittsburgh won so get over it guys. philly needs a few good wideouts to go with mcnabb. the cards are going to be tough if warner doesn't retire. six rings now only four more to go for a fullhouse.

"but I think it was Namath or Unitas who said it best when he said, "If I had protection like these babies do now, I'd still be playing". I used the word babies because I can't say what he actually said since this is a family friendly forum."
Probably Namath. He always was a bigmouth. He seems to have forgotten that the players didnt make the rule.
"I agree with the running into the holder call to a degree. The holder stood(kneeled) his ground and took the hit for the penalty "
Ha ha ha. Ive never seen a holder NOT "kneel " They are not obligated to get out of anyones way, nor should they.
"and the cardinal player was off balance and stumbling. It was the right call but don't make it sound like he ran full steam helmet first into a defenseless man who didn't see it coming."
I never said a word about "launching" into the holder on that play. Thats simply why the rule is what it is. To avoid "confusion" on whats allowable you simply dont mug the predisposed players. Maliciously or not. No tolerance. It removes the unfairness of judgement calls of was that hit too hard or wasnt it? or "Hey that wasnt fair because that hit wasnt half as bad on Joe Shmoe last Sunday". (i didnt make the rule, and I can take it or leave it, its the same for all) Its a simple rule that a 6 year old or a chimpanzee or any nfl player can understand. When you are running in to block a kick, do so under control or dont do it. If you'd rather not, and hurt your team with a penalty, thats also your option and the chance you take.
If you want the rule gotten rid of, petition the league. Until then, I'd just like to see it enforced the same for all and fairly, thats all. And I think it is.

Mr Longbeard, with that core group intact at Pitt, it won't be long before another is on the way! A little tweaking with that line, and maybe picking up a lineman or two and it should be another great year next season. The schedule certainly can't be much harder than this year was, so could be a cakewalk to the play offs compared to this season.
Limas Sweed also needs to learn to catch.

Congrats to the Steelers. A record six Super Bowls, an achievement that all of PA can be proud of.
