If its trout your after either a 4 or 5 weight rod................Cabelas has some fine choices for beginners includes rod ,reel, flyline, backing and leader.............and they wont break the bank

can't go wrong with what skwirl said. My suggestion (I've been flyfishing for 20+ years) Try a 5 wgt 9 ft rod. The reel means nothing in FF'ing. It's just something to hold the line when your not using it. The reel plays no factor in casting a fly rod. The combo outfits are good... usually inexpensive and a good for a beginner. Make sure it's a balanced outfit. If your looking for a really good outfit with not a lot of $$$ investment. Shoot me a PM. I can get you hooked up for around 100 dollars. It's not a used rod. It would be brand new from the manufacturer. (I got the hook up!) It will come with a rod case, reel, flyline, leader, and I'll tie you up some of my tried and true early season trout flies for free!!
If your not too far from me (I live in Bradford County) I'll even give you flyfishing lessons for free. I love to indoctrinate new guys into the world of flyfishing. You will definately get addicted to it. Man is it fun! Even fishing for panfish on a farm pond is exciting! Wait until you try bass and carp on a flyrod. It's soooo awesome!

You can get the Cabela's Three Forks combo (with a Ross reel, line and a leader) for $100 and it is great. I have Fenwick and Orvis rods that are much more expensive than the Three Forks and I'm sold on the Cabela's rods.

You can't beat that deal. I wish I Fly Fished. I'm a bait casting nut but one day I'm going to have to try that.
