I agree with that article 100%.In these parts, you'd be doing ok with $250,000 a year but that isn't the case in much of the country.

I don't fully understand why not.
1400 a month for TWO new vehicles ($100,800 total over 72 months) That's a 40k car each? 1500 a month for a house (360,000 total over 20 years) thats a quarter million dollar home. 1000 a month for food 2000 for utilities (I'm including cell phones and satellite tv with a premium package)
5900 a month. Thats 70,800 a year needed after taxes. That means an income of under 125k a year.
I am assuming health care is included in employer deductions. Most are like that. Sure college for the kids is expensive, but start this little thing called a saving account. I think there are actually college savings funds available that get you tax breaks. Even repaying student loans wouldn't require more than 6000-12000 a year more income to make some sizable payments.

250000k doesn't necessarily buy you that great of a house in many parts of the country and I don't consider someone wealthy because they live in a 250k house. You also have to figure in property taxes.I know several people that moved up here from New Jersey to retire. They were paying 15k a year just for property taxes.
I'm self-employed and I make what looks like good money on paper.Unfortunately,I pay an obscene amount of money in taxes because I'm self-employed.I also have to fund my own retirement and pay for my own healthcare. There have been years where I've dished out over 24k for insurance premiums and healthcare costs. That's a big chunk out of anyone's budget.
My house is bought and paid for. It's average sized and nothing fancy.I buy used vehicles but usually pay cash for them.Right now,I'm driving a 2004 chevy 2500 that I bought as a bank repo.It looks ok dirty but once you wipe the mud off,it's not very impressive. My kids attend public schools and wear cloths bought mostly at Walmart. We're fortunate that my wife doesn't have to work but that's only because we try to live well below our means. What I'm trying to say is that, you'd probably think I was doing pretty good if you look at my 1099's each year.Unfortunately, once I pay my business expenses, healthcare costs and assinine amount of taxes, there isn't as much left as you'd think.
Obama's stimulous package is a freakin joke.It does nothing to help guys like me out.I employ people and pay way more in takes than most people. It's a redistribution of wealth that stimulates people to sit back and do nothing but smoke, take drugs and reproduce.A few weeks ago,I got behind a lady in sheets. She was buying a bunck of junkfood and subs with her access card. That was bad enough but then she whipped a $20 bill out of her wallet and bought 20 bucks worth of lottery tickets.I felt like slamming her face off the counter.I really don't have that much but what I have,I worked for.I put myself through college and worked hard to be where I'm at.I still work well over 60+ hours a week, rarely getting home before 8:30pm.It really chaps my butt that I have to pay more in taxes because I took the initiative and bear the risk of starting a business. All just so more people can contribute nothing to this society other than a bunch of illegitimate kids.Am I bitter?Yep.I generally have to cough of thousands of dollars this time each year to pay taxes. All that so welfare will buy worthless dirtbags cars and continue to allow them to gamble and buy their drugs, cigarettes and booze.
