Found perfetc weather and stream conditions at my semi- secret spot in Huntingdon county. A light crowd and a heavy stocking of trout makes for great fishing, throw in a whole flock of gobbling and strutting turkeys and you have the stuff of legends! Unfortunately I left my camera at home, so my fish pics are from the yard at the house, and no pics of the dozen or so strutting toms in the field nearby, but I got two nice goldens, and a nice holdover brown. Caught around 40 trout in all and briefly hooked a bigger golden that was over twenty inches. Not a bad start to the season! The bigger golden is currently skinned and soaking for prep. I recently got back into amateur taxidermy, and while she is far from my biggest, I just wanted an excuse to do another one, they are so pretty. She will join my big hen steelhead from last fall as another project underway. Steelhead is nearly done. Just waiting on my eyes, final head detail and attach to driftwood. Anyhow, here are some pics from Saturday.

Nice fish! It was slow where I was. My worst first day in years. There were five people fishing a 25 yard section of shoreline at a local lake. We caught and released about 70 trout. I only managed 10, which put me in last place. We were the only ones who put up good numbers. All on spinners and spoons.

Nice Goldens! Congrats. I only scored one brown on Sunday and I worked for it. Dredging the bottom with a heavy Montana B*tch nymph and a sinking line. I did see a lot of Northern Cased Caddis Nymphs though. They make little "houses" with sticks and pebbles.
