I've long said unions should be forced out of business or reigned in REAL HARD. They had their purpose, but they too often make it impossible to fire or reprimand their members. Barack Osama wants more unions and more union contracts. Here is a prime reason to support my theory that its BS and will lead to more disaster. news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20090622/ap_on_re_us/us_rubber_roomsAnd you wonder why we spend so much on public eduction in this nation and have children who graduate on a sub par level of education.

as a long time union member all i can say is those who don't belong and wish they could or are jealous of what union members make . unions aren't needed everywhere and they have there place. it's easy to say things like this but i can tell you all kinds of stories about people who quit the union and work for the company without one and they got screwed royally. guess fox news never told anybody about that side of it.

My dad is part of the teamsters and I have a couple friends in the steel workers union. The teamsters fighting for mandatory rest for the truckers saved thousands of lives over the decades. Unions have done tons of good. They have their part, but when they cross the line as so many have, something needs to be done.

When I used to work construction I remember many of people who left our non union shops and worked for Union ones and they always came back 9 times outta 10.
I worked union once, I didn't like it at all, couldn't fire anyone especially if your a minority, even when stealing from the company and failing your 100th drug test but thats only my experience I'm not saying everyone's is bad so I don't want this taken the wrong way.

in our union if you got with drugs you went Thur rehab. if you got caught again you were gone no questions asked. some unions have lost touch with the real world. like the u.a.w they killed the goose that laid the golden eggs[G.M.] . but by the people who ran the company had a hand in it to.

And that's my point. More unions are being paid too much for doing too little and they cant be punished. It's not all unions.

All Unions , NEGOTIATE their contracts. If a particular union negotiates a contract including better health care, vacation, pay increases, etc, then both parties involved,( The Union, and Employer) have agreed on a contract, that the employer could afford to pay the memberships wage and benifit package! If they couldn't,then the said contract wouldn't be ratified, and back to the bargining table, for more negotiating.Or worse , a lock out,or the workers could go on strike, and no one really wants to strike. Both the union membership, and the employer start losing money real fast.
