i believe the law passed in pa to carry a concealed weapon while spotlighting and archery hunting. Do you agree or disagree, and will you carry when archery hunting and spotting.

Yes it is law and i will definetly carry mine! I just hope that a few bad apples don't give the rest a bad name by poaching or using there ccw to take game unlawfully!

As with any other good idea, someone will surely abuse this. I have had a ccw for more than 30 years and although I seldom carried in the past, I am going to change my ways. Today's environment is most compelling for carrying. I too hope the bad apples don't give all law-abiding ccw holders a black eye.

Time will tell??? How many of you will carry your sidearm while bowhunting etc etc??? Lets here your thought's??? I can see no reason that i would carry a handgun in archery season.i do keep a carry gun in my truck but i never found it a problem to take it out if i decided to go spotting. and like you i do worry about some abusing the law,but do believe only time will tell.

Always keep my 9 or 45 acp in my trucks dash. Now i dont need to remove while spotting. Any bowhunter that wishes to outlaw a deer with a hand gun in bow season would do it irregardless IMO. Hopefully such would be almost nonexistent.
Good law change!

Who would abuse this law?Does anyone really think a glock is a superior weapon for deer than a bow?A supose you could make a case for a guy that wants to bring a scoped anaconda along but in reality, who's gonna poach with a 9mm or 45 acp?I see no real need to pack heat during archery season but I like the idea that i can do so locally.

Can anyone find the law and post it here?? I hadn't heard of that, but it was always my pet peeve that I couldn't protect myself while spotlighting. I can see no reason anyone should carry a handgun while archery hunting. Leave it in the vehicle!

It was passed and signed by the governor last novemeber and took effect 60 days later.you can now pack heat during archery season, spring gobbler season and while spotlighting as long as you have a conceiled weapons permit. It don't have a link but it's a fact.

don't agree with it . just an excuse to poach legally. in all my years of spotting. never had a problem while out there spotting no excuse to carry while spotting or archery hunting. another problem will come when a couple of hunters have an argument out in the woods and one pulls out his side arm.

Suppose you carry your CCW into town and on the way home decide to throw the light on a field. I have argued for years that an animal is superceding my right to protect myself. I definitely support it. As to two hunters arguing and one pulling a gun;; unless they were archery hunters they'd have guns with them anyways. As for the poaching part, sure it's bound to happen, but use your head:: A CCW handgun is not something you'd use to shoot a spotlighted deer at any reasonable distance. Almost all spotlighting convictions have been done with a rifle, not a handgun, and most of them are at distances beyond deadly accuracy of the handguns usually carried for protection. I went to the link posted above, and while it has a wealth of info, I cannot find anything referring to the law we're talking about. I'd like to see a link to that actual law so it can be undoubted. Right now we only have a bunch of us saying it is law. Any that finds it, please post it here. OH yeah, it still wouldn't be legal to poach. It would still be against the law to shoot game with the use of a light.

people will carry while archery hunting and 90% will finish the deer off if their not a good shot with the bow
